  • Describe your autism research program.
I study the relationship between neighbourhood socioeconomic status and developmental health of children with autism.
  • How does your work contribute to the MacART vision of “advancing autism care through meaningful research”?
The findings of my research can help policy makers identity the type and location of early intervention services to offer in order to support the development of children with autism.
  • What inspires your program of research?
My program of research, under the supervision of Dr. Magdalena Janus, is inspired by importance of giving all children a fair start in life so they can grow up and become healthy, independent, and contributing members of society to the best of their ability.
  • If you could change one thing in the way we train the next generation of autism experts, what would that be?
For non-clinician research trainees, I hope there will be greater opportunities to interact with individuals with autism and their families to learn about their unique life experiences to help inform their own programs of research moving forward.
  • How can we improve our research efforts to advance autism care?
Engaging in open dialogue with individuals with autism, their families, as well as service providers, discussing the unique challenges they experience and the recommendations they have for improving care can meaningfully inform future research efforts to advance autism care.
  • Describe yourself in three words.
I would like to describe myself as an open minded, passionate, and creative individual.
